If the wind blows against an airplane at the same speed that it is flying, the result is that the plane does not move at all relative to the ground. If a motor plane moves through the air for example, with 400 km/h, and the headwind is at the same 400 km/h, their speeds cancel each other out. This means that the plane's so-called ground speed is zero and the plane is not moving forward.
