Once your body is infected with rabies, you have 24 hours to get the vaccine. If vaccination is not done during this period death is inevitable. Rabies has a mortality rate of 100%. Only one person has survived rabies without vaccination.

   I wonder, that the staff does not wear gloves. According to the IfSchG, even touching someone with rabies counts (animal) as a suspected infection.

     actually it is indeed quite dangerous to wear no protection, although the infectious agent spreads through body substances, so if the nurses & doctors don’t have any open wound, the risk of getting contaminated is low. but i agree with you that it’s stupidly dangerous not to wear gloves.
