Four people swim to freedom

When the Berlin Wall was built in 1961, East Germany was separated from the Western. Eastern Germany, centered in East Berlin, was controlled by the Soviet Union and was the Centre of communism in Europe. The citizens could not simply leave. I had to escape, but it could cost them their lives. This 1988 video shows four people swim to freedom, and survive the last time as they are faced with a German speedboat.
