Photogrammetry using a multi-camera system

Photogrammetry is a method of obtaining accurate measurements and shapes of objects from photographs. It uses the principles of geometry and optics to convert two-dimensional images into three-dimensional information. Multi-camera photography is a technology in which multiple cameras are used to record a single scene simultaneously. It is applied in various fields – from professional film production to mobile phones, robotics, 3D mapping or industrial quality control. A multi-camera system consists of many cameras (usually identical or calibrated) which are fixed in specific positions. They record the same scene from different angles or with different parameters (focal length, report, spectral filters). The resulting images are then processed by software – into a unified image and 3D reconstruction.
