On May 31, 2025 at about 8:40 am. in Seoul, South Korea, A 67 -year -old man deliberately threw gasoline on the floor of a metro moving wagon on line 5 between Yeouinaru and Mapo and set fire to him. About 160 passengers were on the wagon. Six people were injured, while 23 (including the suspect) were hospitalized for inhalation of tobacco. Another 129 received first aid on the spot. Metro wagon suffered damage estimated at 330 million won (~205.000 Euro). The man was charged with attempted homicide. Started the fire because he was unhappy with the outcome of his divorce process. Confessed that he premeditated his crime by purchasing petrol boxes two weeks earlier.
