Climber who was presumed dead in the Himalayas found with a Drone. Last Monday we reported on how mountaineer Rick Allen was successfully rescued, after being presumed dead, from Broad Peak (26,400 ft) in Pakistan. with help of a DJI Mavic Pro drone. Needless to say that everybody involved, is happy to report that Rick made it back to safety with only minor injuries. This is the latest, but far from the only, rescue mission in which a drone played a crucial role in saving someone's life. What sets this story apart though, are the extreme conditions (altitude and temperature) in which the DJI Mavic Pro was able to fly. From K2's basecamp, Bartek Bargiel who piloted the drone was able to answer some questions in a short interview with DroneDJ.
Wild deer adorably naps on woman’s lap Animals are amazing creatures! They can bring joy to our lives even when we are feeling low. Sure, there are some animals that you do not want to get anywhere near, but then there are some that you just want to cuddle with and love just like this deer here. In this adorable video, watch as a deer falls asleep in this person's lap! Sadly, the deer is blind and deaf due to an unfortunate collision with a vehicle. Luckily the good Samaritan in this clip saved the deer and took it in as a part of the family. Faith in humanity restored! It is very sad what happened to this animal. Good thing that this person came along when they did or else the unthinkable could have happened to this deer. Animals should not have to suffer due to our negligence, at least this person is out there atoning for someones wrong doing! Footage filmed in Alabaster, Alabama, USA.
Scary House for Halloween Occurred on October 31, 2017 / Saint Charles, Missouri, USA "This was our first Halloween at our new home and we both love Halloween so we decided to create a memorable first Halloween. We worked diligently for several weeks to come up with a topical and current themed halloween display. All props were hand build and painted by us. The window and pumpkin effects were via projector from purchased software. Most of the decor (less the scarecrow) were not placed until Halloween morning. The show starts with the pumpkins on stage singing cute Halloween songs. From the second story windows, two corpses lay as Zombies swarm the upper level. Next is the haunted scarecrow grave yard followed by a walk along the old, rickity fence to the Zombies attempting to escape thru the windows. At the end of the sidewalk, spiders swarm and protect the porch as Penny Wise guards the steps. A brave trick-or-treater could grab a bag of snacks from the basket held by Penny, if they date. Finally, the demon nun blocks the escape. Brave souls are then rewarded with tasty treats."

Meet the cat ISU vets outfitted with very rare prosthetic legs Cindy Jones first laid eyes on Vincent the cat when he was just a month old. The tiny kitten was brought into the Story County Animal Shelter with injured hind legs, but Jones immediately fell in love. That love led her to the Iowa State veterinary hospital, where Dr. Mary Sarah Bergh, and veterinary orthopedics company BioMedtrix, had the idea to design implants that could be inserted into the femur bones of Vincent's legs and come out through the skin. The procedure is so rare, Bergh estimates fewer than 25 animals in the world have ever had a similar surgery. Vincent's recovery has been long, but his future looks bright. He already walks around very well, and his hind legs will continue to be lengthened until they are as long as his front legs. Dr. Bergh says he will even be jumping and doing other normal cat activities soon.
Steven Wilson – Routine "Amongst the hundreds of songs I have written over the years, 'Routine' has a very special place. It's a deeply sad story of loss and denial, but at its conclusion the clouds lift and there is acceptance at least. Having worked with her on 3 previous videos, I knew as soon as I wrote it that it was perfect for Jess to do something amazing with. Even then nothing prepared me for the organic beauty and power of the film she made, a painstaking labour of love that took her months to produce. When we play the song live I look out into the audience and see people swept away with emotion at the combination of music and animation. To find poetry and beauty in sadness is a wonderful thing I think" - Steven Wilson
