In Australia, a man was found in the bathroom of a cockroach and a spider. Cockroach traps and sheds near the spider, which immediately captures its prey with impressive speed.

   If it's just an observation, that by chance the person went to the animals’ “habitat” and came across the scene of the spider attacking the cockroach, I don’t see the need for an ethics committee. However, according to law nº 11,794/2008, it regulates the use of animals in scientific research, including invertebrates. One of the requirements “Defines that animals must receive special care before, during and after the experiments”.

   Every research project must be submitted to the ethics committee. As the teacher mentioned, just “child's games” wouldn't need.
