Kurdish man dedicated his life to finding and clearing mines Hoshyar Ali spent much of his life locating and clearing mines from the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988). He lives in Halabaja, in a Kurdish region of Iraq. He started this work in 1981, when he was still a Peshmerga fighter. Due to this activity, he lost both his legs, his son, a brother and an assistant.
