Pilots in Nigeria almost ran over airport technicians with plane

A dangerous incident occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Nigeria, when the crew of a commercial aircraft began moving along the airport apron without permission from the control tower. The aircraft came into direct danger to several members of the ground staff who were on the taxiway.

According to the investigating authorities, the pilots ignored standard procedures and moved while preparatory work was underway in the area. The ground staff had to back off at the last minute to avoid a collision. The situation was avoided without injuries, but according to experts, it could have had tragic consequences.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) immediately suspended the pilots’ licenses and launched an investigation. It is being determined whether the incident was caused by a communication failure or a deliberate disregard for the instructions of the control tower. The crew’s previous records and the airline’s safety procedures are also being reviewed.

The NCAA also announced stricter checks and additional training for aircraft crews. Experts warn that this is a serious violation of aviation safety rules, which can also lead to criminal consequences.
