steam train hits car leaving lot in Jim Thorpe

Today, Reading and Northern steam locomotive #425 was pulling back into Jim Thorpe on the 11:00 train when a car darted in front. The driver and passenger both seem to be okay, just a little shaken. The passengers on board the train reported that they didn’t even feel the train hit the car, which is a testament to the sheer power behind this 1920’s steam locomotive. The locomotive was going a relatively slow speed, and sent the car flying as if it was nothing, so if you think you can beat a train through a crossing, don’t even try. For those concerned about 425, she suffered a few bent grab irons and had a big tire print on her rear, but she’ll be fine. Let this serve as a lesson to everyone: Look. Listen. Live.
