Rescuing a Cute Koala Occurred on August 27, 2017 / Ulupna Island Murray River, Victoria, Australia "A group of students with a sessional lecturer from Latrobe University Bendigo Outdoor and Environmental Education degree were canoeing on the Murray River at Ulupna Island. We had been on the river since Thursday and there was minor flood levels at the time which is quite normal for the area. Sunday morning we stopped on the banks to check a fast flowing section when we saw this koala sitting in the branch of a tree that was surrounded by water. Matt, one of the students paddled closer to get a photo and noticed the koala was eyeing off his canoe and looked to be trying to get closer and maybe jump on board, so he pushed the boat over closer to the tree and the koala jumped on board straight away to be ferried back to shore. Once he was back on dry land you could see his back legs were wet so we guessed that he has maybe tried to swim back to shore but decided the current was maybe too strong. Once back on shore the koala didn't seem worried about us being there at all and stuck around for a while taking a drink from the river."- Mission 9: Safe Escape In Any Phase Of Flight New Shepard flew for the ninth time on July 18, 2018. During this mission, known as Mission 9 (M9), the escape motor was fired shortly after booster separation. The Crew Capsule was pushed hard by the escape test and we stressed the rocket to test that astronauts can get away from an anomaly at any time during flight. The mission was a success for both the booster and capsule. Most importantly, astronauts would have had an exhilarating ride and safe landing. This isn’t the first time we’ve done this type of extreme testing on New Shepard. In October of 2012, we simulated a booster failure on the launch pad and had a successful escape. Then in October of 2016, we simulated a booster failure in-flight at Max Q, which is the most physically strenuous point in the flight for the rocket, and had a completely successful escape of the capsule. This test on M9 allowed us to finally characterize escape motor performance in the near-vacuum of space and guarantee that we can safely return our astronauts in any phase of flight. - Sailors Discover Dead German Sailor During Clipper Boat Race A group of sailors who were participating in the Clipper Round the World race discovered the body of a lone German sailor inside an abandoned boat drifting near the Philippines on January 31. The deceased sailor, later named in a statement from the Clipper race as Manfred Fritz Bajorat, was reportedly in an advanced state of decomposition when he was found.
The LMAX Exchange team abandoned the Clipper race after spotting the drifting boat, reportedly in the hope that they could help “the stricken vessel and any fellow sailors marooned.”
“After boarding the drifting vessel, we unfortunately discovered the body of a lone sailor. We remained on site, under instruction, until released by the USCG who continued with the recovery," the team were quoted as saying in a statement on the Clipper website.
“As a team we found comfort that he was found and that peace will be given to his friends and family who have been looking for him. Our words and thoughts were shared on board as he now rests in peace.”

- A shark jumps on a fishing boat Saturday November 5, 2022 off Whitianga, New Zealand, a group of people were fishing for trevally when a mako shark, having taken a bait, jumped out of the water and landed on the front of the boat. The fish, over 2 meters long, then remained stuck on the fishermen's boat for a few minutes before managing to return to the water, safe and sound.
