BAE Systems Land 400 Vehicle – the AMV35 – Ready to Go

BAE Systems Australia is ready to demonstrate its solution to the Australian Army’s mounted combat reconnaissance requirements.

Our three test vehicles are built and ready to go for the Army’s 12 months testing in the Risk Mitigation stage of the tender evaluation later this year.

BAE Systems is committed to manufacturing this vehicle in Australia. If selected as the successful tender, the vehicle will be manufactured, assembled and supported in Australia, with manufacturing, technology and intellectual capability transitioning to an Australian production line.

This will secure and retain in-country capability and contribute significantly to the Australian economy throughout the expected 30 plus year life of the vehicles.

BAE Systems Australia and the Finnish Patria have teamed to produce the AMV35 as our offer for Phase 2 of the Australian Army’s Land 400 Program. The vehicle integrates the combat-proven CV9035 turret from BAE Systems Hagglunds onto a modern, agile, highly protected military-off-the-shelf (MOTS) Patria Armoured Modular Vehicle (AMV).

Our BAE Systems / Patria team brings together 60 years of Australian experience with global expertise in production and sustainment.

Australia will benefit from our established networks and track record of successful technology transfer to user nations.

BAE Systems in Australia has the engineering, manufacturing, and support capabilities and access to global expertise that makes it an ideal partner to offer the Patria AMV into the Australian market.

The Land 400 Phase 2 Down Select for evaluation of tender vehicles is expected to be announced toward the end of the first quarter of this year.

Base jumping catastrophe May 26, 2017 / Lauterbrunnen, Bern, Switzerland I started B.A.S.E. jumping 1 year ago. This was jump number 56. After the opening, I realized that some lines built a tension knot. I was not able to clear it, so the canopy started spinning and the vertical speed increased. Then I hit a tree, which probably saved my life. Unfortunately, the tree didn´t catch the canopy and I started falling again without being slowed down. I impacted on soft ground right next to rocks which probably had killed me if I had hit them.
