A rather strange scene filmed in Yemen shows men going through a security checkpoint at the entrance to a rally, in an area controlled by the Houthis. The video began circulating widely on social media around August 26, 2026.

At the entrance, police officers conduct particularly thorough body searches: they inspect the clothes and check the body and legs of the participants.

What makes the scene unusual is that several of the men being screened clearly have rifles slung over their shoulders. Officers reach for guns to continue the search, but they seem not at all interested in the rifles themselves.

According to the Yemeni news agency Yemen Online, the video was reportedly shot at the entrance to a Mawlid al-Nabi celebration, of the festival commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad. Several participants are said to have brought their own personal weapons, including rifles and pistols.
