While picking what appeared to be the last bloom of a magnolia in her garden, a woman was surprised to discover a large bee nestling among the stamens. It was probably a carpenter bee (Xylocopa), recognizable by its yellow chest and smooth black belly. Covered in pollen from head to toe, she seemed to be enjoying a veritable bath of gold dust, gently rolling into the flower as if enjoying the moment.
