Balloon in liquid nitrogen

In this science experiment, a balloon is immersed in a container filled with liquid nitrogen at -196°C. Within seconds, the air in the balloon contracts and the balloon shrinks as if deflating. Once removed and warmed to room temperature, it gradually returns to its original volume as if by magic.

This phenomenon is explained by the drop in air temperature inside the balloon. As it cools, molecules move more slowly and occupy much less volume, causing the balloon to deflate. When the air is heated, it expands again and the balloon returns to its original shape. A simple and impressive demonstration of Charles' Law for the behavior of gases.
