In Canada, a hiker had a rare and terrifying encounter with a grizzly bear, a scene he instinctively videotaped. Early in the morning, as she and her dog left their campsite for a short walk of about 100 meters, a big bear suddenly appeared on the way back.

The animal did not appear aggressive, but rather strange and focused on the dog. For several seconds, the bear came within five meters of her, showing no obvious signs of attack.

The clinking sound heard in the video just comes from the spoon she left in her coffee cup. Just as the picture starts to shake, the hiker throws her cup on the ground. The noise startles the grizzly, which goes away for a few minutes. Then, she took the opportunity to run back to the campsite with her dog. Spinning, she saw the bear chase her for a short time before the people at the campsite managed to distract her by shouting and waving their arms. Some minutes later, the bear eventually left the area to follow a moose.

According to the hiker, the wildlife officer who initially responded had a hard time believing her story before seeing the video. Accustomed to encountering grizzlies in the area, he says he has never experienced such close contact. This video serves as a reminder of how these animals, although they are generally not very aggressive towards humans, they remain extremely powerful and unpredictable. He now advises all hikers to carry bear spray at all times, even for a short walk near the campsite.
