On the highway between the cities of Lecce and Brindisi near Tuturano, Italy, a dramatic attack on an armored delivery vehicle took place on the morning of Monday February 9, 2026, accompanied by an exchange of gunfire with the police and a wild escape of the perpetrators. According to Italian media and available information, a group of armed masked men blocked the road and forced a passing armored vehicle to stop. The perpetrators placed a car on the road to block it, and then blew up the vehicle.

Dramatic footage from bystanders shows the group had at least six members, some dressed in white overalls and all armed. Despite the use of explosives in the attempt to attack the armored vehicle, the ambush was unsuccessful and the attackers were unable to extort money. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Police arrested at least three suspects in the Campi Salentina area.
