Special Operations Boat Airdrop From C-17: Low Velocity Airdrop Delivery System (LVADS)
(1) | 24/04/2018 | Translate: Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC) with Special Boat Team 20 personnel execute the insertion of two Combatant Craft Assault (CCA) vehicles using the Low Velocity Airdrop Delivery System (LVADS) from a C-17 cargo aircraft during a training exercise.
Crazyswarm: a large nano-quadcopter swarm Crazyswarm is a swarm of 49 Crazyflie 2.0 nano-quadcopters operating in a new experimental robotics building at USC. We localize the quadcopters with a Vicon motion-capture system and a custom object tracker that supports identical marker arrangements. Three shared radios broadcast position updates at 100Hz and send high-level trajectory commands to each vehicle. Vicon-IMU sensor fusion, trajectory evaluation, and position control are all performed onboard at 500Hz. The rotating pyramid demo is built from ellipse commands. The USC letters demo is built from point-to-point commands with each vehicle planning fifth-order polynomial trajectories onboard. A Python scripting layer controls the overall sequence of events. In this video, a swarm of robots is able to extract vehicles from confined spaces with delicate handling, swiftly and in any direction. The novel lifting robots are capable of omnidirectional movement, thus they can under-ride the desired vehicle and dock to its wheels for a synchronized lifting and extraction. The overall developed system applies reasoning about available trajectory paths, wheel identification, local and undercarriage obstacle detection, in order to fully automate the process.
