Wu Shui in China is like a siesta in Spain, people like to take a nap in the afternoon

In some Chinese cities, an afternoon nap is a common practice. In practice, it works like this: After lunch, usually between 12:00 and 14:00, people take a short nap. This is common at home, but also at work – especially in smaller cities, government offices, schools and traditional businesses. Shops and offices may have a longer lunch break or appear “half-dead”, although they are not formally closed. This is a cultural habit, strongly rooted in the Chinese way of life (wǔshuì). It is now rarer in large cities and private companies, but is still very common in smaller cities.
